When Edgar Montenegro walked through the jungles of Putumayo as a child, his curiosity and connection with nature planted a vision within him that would change the lives of thousands of families. Raised in a humble family of eight siblings and without access to formal education, he became self-taught, learning from the jungle and understanding the value of its resources. With more than 20 years of experience, he founded Corpocampo to demonstrate that the resources of the Colombian Amazon and Pacific regions can be engines of sustainable development.

He has successfully positioned products like Camu Camu, hearts of palm, and açaí in global markets, generating income for more than 1,500 families and conserving hundreds of hectares of natural forest. In 2018, he was awarded the Business for Peace Award in Norway, often called the “Nobel Prize for Business,” for his ability to drive economic and social development in vulnerable communities. Edgar has inspired other entrepreneurs to embrace models that combine profitability and conservation. Today, he continues to lead new alliances to build a legacy of sustainability and prosperity, proving that biodiversity and progress can go hand in hand.
