Senator Hamida Kibwana is an accomplished public servant with over two decades of experience in electoral management, political strategy, and democratic governance. Since 2022, she has been serving as an ODM Nominated Senator in the esteemed Senate of Kenya, championing the interests of all citizens, especially marginalized and underrepresented communities. With a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Marketing Option) from the University of Nairobi and a background in Business Administration from Kenya Polytechnic, Senator Kibwana’s education complements her extensive practical experience in elections and democratic processes. As the Head of Elections Operations and Strategy Team at the Raila Odinga Presidential Secretariat, she has displayed keen insights and leadership skills in planning and executing successful advocacy campaigns and managing large-scale public events. Her strategic guidance in electoral matters and policy has earned her respect as a trusted advisor. Senator Hamida’s international experience includes serving as the Elections Management Specialist for the UNDP Democratic Empowerment Project in Zanzibar, UNDP Elect Project II Audit Team Leader, and Project Manager for the UNDP Project in Support of the Electoral Commission Forum of the SADC. Her efforts in promoting gender equality and inclusive electoral processes are evident in her work. Currently, she serves as the Chairperson of the Kenya Women Senators Association and is a Member of the Health, Justice, Legal and Human Rights, and the County Public Investment Committees in the Senate of Kenya.
