Mr. Paul Garaycochea was recently appointed as Director for ‘Sustainable supply chains;
agricultural and food systems’ at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation
and Development (BMZ). Mr Garaycochea holds a master’s degree in law and has extensive experience in development policy. At the BMZ he has been in charge of different regional and institutional topics, including in bilateral development cooperation. He has headed divisions for cooperation with South America and held postings as head of cooperation at German Embassies in Bolivia and Peru. He was head of the multilateral policy issues division at BMZ, among others during the 2022 German G7 presidency.
Additionally, he was head of division of cooperation with the World Bank at the BMZ
headquarters.
