Jonathan Gheyssens

Dr. Jonathan Gheyssens is UNEP Programme Officer at the Climate Finance Unit, advising on issues ranging from climate finance, carbon and biodiversity market mechanisms to financing mechanisms for development. Jonathan has a master’s degree in Finance from the Paris Institute of Political Studies, an MSc in Economics from the University of Montreal and a PhD in Economics and Finance from the ETH Zurich. He has published several papers on REDD+ mechanisms and climate finance and has co-authored a book on Environmental Finance and Investment. Jonathan previously worked as quantitative risk manager for the National Bank of Canada and the consultancy Deloitte and started his career as a strategy consultant for the banking sector.
