Hannah Simmons is the founder and CEO of ERA (Ecosystem Regeneration Associates), a women-led organization that develops nature-based solutions projects in Brazil. Hannah led the development the first REDD+ carbon conservation project in the Cerrado, protecting over 11 thousand hectares. ERA also developed Brazil’s first biodiversity credits on the Regen Registry, together with a Brazilian NGO, protecting 50,000 hectares of jaguar habitat. Hannah is also very engaged in the women’s empowerment agenda. ERA developed the first social credits using the W+ standard, to measure and verify the outcomes ERA’s agroforestry training program had on the women. Hannah believes that the private sector has a large role to play in financing a just transition to a net-zero & nature-positive future. Hannah holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Economics & Sustainability from McGill University, Canada.
