Elsa Ordway is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and Co-Director of UCLA’s Center for Tropical Research and the Congo Basin Institute. She received her PhD in Earth System Science from Stanford University and a Master’s in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology from Columbia University. Her work examines terrestrial social-ecological systems combining remote sensing, field observations, models, and socioeconomic analyses to gain new insight into pattern and process across scales in forest ecosystems in the tropics and western US in the context of global environmental change.
