Deisy Brigitte Escobar Piaguaje is a communicator for the Red Tejiendo Historias. Through her mother, she is a descendant of the Zio Bain people, also known as the People of Chagra, whose roots lie in her grandparents’ homeland. A 21-year-old social communication student, she is also a member of her community’s board of directors. Due to the difficult context of the armed conflict, she lived outside the territory for most of her life but has since returned to her roots. During this time, she has learned about the history of her people and her Zio Bain identity. She is now one of the young women leading processes to contribute to the organizational struggle and territorial defense of their cultural identity through community communication. She creates photographic, audiovisual, and written records of situations in the territory.
