Boris van den Tweel is a forestry expert at Face the Future, a forest carbon project developer with over 30 years of experience, based in the Netherlands. He holds MSc degrees in both Economics and Wildlife Ecology.Boris is project lead for the Kibale Restoration Project in Uganda’s Kibale National Park—one of the world’s most successful and longest-running carbon projects when it comes to restoration of tropical forest. Over the past three decades, the initiative has restored more than 7,000 hectares of natural tropical high forest on previously degraded land, delivering major benefits for biodiversity and local communities.
Face the Future develops forestry projects to mitigate climate change, certified to the highest international standards. In close cooperation with partners, the organization implements nature restoration efforts that counteract climate change, rebuild ecosystems, and boost biodiversity. These projects also contribute to food security and enhance socio-economic resilience for communities in the regions where they operate.
With large-scale initiatives in Uganda and Malaysia, Face the Future works on some of the most ambitious forest replanting efforts in the world—demonstrating the powerful role of nature-based solutions in addressing global climate challenges.
