Bryan is an Indigenous Bidayuh Kayan hailing from Long Liam. Bryan spent his childhood growing up both in Sarawak’s capital city and in the remote interior of Borneo. Bryan is passionate about science and geography and draws his inspiration from the dense, biodiversity rich forests of the Baram region. He has also watched this landscape change in real time, from his favorite childhood Moellenkampi beetle becoming increasingly scarce, to the fog receding earlier and earlier in the morning each day. After finishing his studies at UNIMAS, Bryan went to work with local NGO SAVE Rivers to help combat the negative impacts of climate change, and to campaign against mega-dams and timber extraction in his homeland.
